Difficulty Level: Difficult

From Kara:

This is a pretty typical "Wade-style" Astanga (Power) Yoga class.  It’s pretty hard one, so remind yourself that if you are straining and working hard to breath to back off.  Try to concentrate on the breath and relaxing any muscles that you don’t need to do the pose–especially the face.  If you keep a check on the face you might be surprised to find that you are tense, and reminding yourself to relax your face might help you relax everything.   Also keep that slight contraction in your lower stomach–you’ll protect your lower back from over straining and you’ll breath correctly.  You’re going to work just about everything in this class, so enjoy doing so much good to your body.

This class seems to work everything, with an emphasis on the hips and lower back/hamstrings.  includes a lot of strength/balance poses, including a few variations of "crow pose" including  a "sideways crow". there is an interesting "warrior 1" lunge to "eagle pose" and back to lunge.  we also did a variation of "camel" that is worth checking out.  "plow" and "shoulder stand" towards the end and a twist to finish up.  if you hear a bull horn on and off for about 10 minutes in the middle of class, don’t worry, it’s just the fire station next door to our class, apparently testing the horns on their trucks.  a true test of focus.  don’t worry, it probably didn’t come thru on the recording. enjoy.

We started off with sun salutations A and B with some variations to warm up the hips, like lifting your leg while in down dog and some stuff to get you good and warmed up like holding plank pose.  We somehow managed to work our way into "flipping our dog" or "rock star pose".  I remember a pretty hard one legged balance series, that felt rather graceful if you pulled it off.  There was a "crouching tiger" and a "crow pose" sequence and an interesting"eagle pose".  We did some good ab work and there were some "camel poses" and finished off with a nice twist while lying on the floor.  And of course finished with the most important pose, "corpse". I’d rate the difficultly as hard, everyone looked like they were sweating a lot.

Difficulty Level: Difficult

Tonight’s class is all about Wade unleashing his fury on the class generating heat and strength. The class gets right into it with a challenging warm up, and then gets tough from there. Get ready for lots of push ups, long one-leg balances, and those tough "put one hand where your foot used to be" down-dogs. Bring your game face to this one.

Get ready for a good one. Lots of "Generating Heat" (read "push ups"), long lunging poses, a robust "Fun with Abs™" session, and much, much more. A good one to burn off the 8500 calories you ate last Thursday.

Tonight Wade relentlessly works his students like a North Korean dictator as he subconsciously deals with many hidden and dangerous personal anger issues. Get ready for everyhting and the kitchen sink. Butt-burning one-leg sequences, tons of upper push-up position, strange and challenging arm balances, and much more. In short, an awesome class. Note to Jess Hartman- this is the one you want.

Get ready for a tough one. There were only a few people present at tonight’s class, and I think Wade used it as an excuse really let loose. The class starts with some exended “plank” (read “upper push up”) position, and just goes from there. Lots of upper body stuff with a couple of lengthy one-leg balance poses thrown in to make your lower body hurt like your upper body. Have fun.

I wasn’t at this workout, but the person who recorded gave this advice: “bring your game face to this one, it’s a toughy”. There you go. Enjoy.

Tonight Wade mentioned that he thought Tuesday’s workout focused alot on the lower body, so he would “change things a bit” for tonight. Evidently, that means he is going to work your ass off. get ready for lots of upper body, and a killer one-legged tree-to-airplane thing that will make you cry mama. Have fun, and don’t forget to breath and keep your stomach tight.
