I’m giving this class a difficult level only because Wade incorporated some challenging poses into the practice. Remember, it won’t be difficult if you stop where your body says “stop!” and of course there’s always child’s pose.
The sun salutations were given some variety with prayer squats, shoulder stretches and reverse warriors. As you continue into the standing poses, it may seem like a primary Ashtanga workout, but be prepared for Wade’s modifications! On the mat, you will find yourself attempting poses from ALL five series of Ashtanga Yoga. A few are locust, frog and bow from 2nd series, pigeon, and side arm balance from 3rd, hero, cobra and side crow from 4th and lotus, knee balance and stiff corpse from 5th series.
It is a fun class and gives you some opportunities to try some poses not often taken.
Try not to fall asleep in Shivasana!

This was one of my favorites. Quite vigorous, quick pace and you really earn your corpse pose at the end. The warm ups are sun salutations A and B. After the warm ups you move through a series of difficult standing poses and conclude the the class by moving to the ground to cool down.

Scroll through the first minute if you want to get started right away. This class starts by warming up with Sun Salutations A and B. After moving through some balancing poses the focus moves to stretching the hamstrings. When you move to the floor get ready for some serious work on your abs. Enjoy

This class seems to have two main features: roasting your calves and inversions. With that in mind, you may want to pace yourself as Wade enters the airplane-tree-eagle sequence following the warm-ups, and you also may want to be near a wall so you can practice your handstands. Lila- this is the workout that you liked :)

Awesome class! Wade spices things up with a class that focuses on core strength, specifically working the abdominal muscles–all of them! You’ll find: the usual warm-ups (Sunny A and B), poses to stretch and strengthen the back and twist the spine, poses that stretch the shoulders if you pay attention to the subtle technical details that Wade points out, a really hard abdominal series, some inversions that continue to utilize core strength (like Feather of the Peacock and Headstand, and Wheel (that’s an inversion too, right?) and finally some twists to wrap it up. A fantastic class to get you ready for whatever sport you might be enjoying or just everyday life, since core strength is essential in just about everything from good posture to performance.  As Wade reminds you at the beginning…remember the breath, let it be your guide.

If you give this class a try, I highly recommend that you try to do this in a hot room or someplace very warm. Wade held class in the smallest room in the community center (room # 5 or "the torture chamber") and he had several portable heaters going.
Be warned….When Wade advises you to pace yourself….you know you are in for a hard class!  Maybe it was the added heat that made this class a great one, but I think it was more about the approx. 45 minutes that we spent balancing on one leg… tons of Airplane poses. And the fact that we did SPLITS! And that’s where the heat really helped. I found myself going further in poses than I have ever gone before and I felt great the next day as well.  Warm up the room if you can and go for it.

Although I give this class a "difficult" rating, I would say it wasn’t necessarily a tough class beginning to end, but rather there was one really challenging section. A section where I remember standing on one leg for what felt like an hour, and then we switched to the other leg. Other than that, it was great! Oh- I think there is a headstand in there somewhere. Enjoy!

Tonight’s class has a reoccurring theme of inversions, so get ready to work the upper body. And it’s not all head stands either (but there are some of those). Sprinkled throughout the class are several arm balances that will challenge even the people out there with the very best strength-weight ratios, if you choose to do them. As usual, though, there is always a lot that you can take from this class without feeling the need to do every pose and every push up.

When Wade came into the class, I though he looked happy enough, but as the class got started, I realized that I was dead wrong. No, my friends, tonight Wade is on a rampage. He’s angry, and it seems that he is angry with you. What did you do over the weekend? Sit on the sofa and watch Love Boat and eat ice cream? Stand shirtless and slack-jawed in your yard and watch the grass grow? Well even if you didn’t, you are going to pay for those that did. This class will throw everything at you, and do so a quick pace. Get ready to work.

From Kara:  Holy Hips!  Wade back from a yoga retreat and vacation, didn’t miss a beat.  Did we miss him?  Yes, of course, but for that instant while my thigh was screaming in agony, the answer would surely have been, No!
This class gets right into it with emphasis on the hamstrings, lower back and the hips.  If you are like me and get really, really tight in the hips/low back area (from biking/running) and you can manage to really RELAX while practicing the deep and sustained hip openers you might feel your entire lower body loosen up.  You’ll work really hard to get there, but it’s well worth it.  Great class, thanks Wade!
