From Kara:

This is a pretty typical "Wade-style" Astanga (Power) Yoga class.  It’s pretty hard one, so remind yourself that if you are straining and working hard to breath to back off.  Try to concentrate on the breath and relaxing any muscles that you don’t need to do the pose–especially the face.  If you keep a check on the face you might be surprised to find that you are tense, and reminding yourself to relax your face might help you relax everything.   Also keep that slight contraction in your lower stomach–you’ll protect your lower back from over straining and you’ll breath correctly.  You’re going to work just about everything in this class, so enjoy doing so much good to your body.

Either you love it or you hate it- Tonight, it’s the infamous Long Slow, Deep. Physically, maybe it’s not the hardest class, but mentally, it can be a real challenge. It’s one of my favorite classes- it’s a great way to wind down after a busy week. Enjoy!

The good news is that Wade and I figured out what that  "zipping" noise was on the recording that some of you commented on, and it’s now gone. The bad news is that while I did this workout, I cant really remember what we did… I think it was pretty hard? I’m not sure. We’ll go ahead and classify it under "mystery class"

From Kara: This 90 min. class begins with some slow poses to warm up the spine and then speeds up with some heat producing Sun Salutations A and B.  Now good and warmed up, after a quick, invigorating head stand, you’ll go through some pretty standard poses, bending forward and back from the Warrior positions and then work into twisting with Prayer twist postures.  Eventually you’ll work your way to the floor and work the abs with Boat pose and some variations.  Finishing up with seated forward bends, and then to counteract that, Bridge and Wheel.  And finally a nice, long twist to end.
You’ll generally hold poses a bit longer that usual in this class. This is a great class for people without a lot of yoga experience, because you’ll do a lot of the basic poses, but no matter your yoga level, you’ll get a good workout.

Things start with a bang tonight with what Wade calls "energetic" sun salutations. Get ready. we then move through some standard poses, culminating with a one of the better "Fun With Abs™" sessions we’ve had in a long time. All in all, a pretty challenging work out- almost a "Difficult" rating
