Tonight, we add a new category- the "Mystery Class". This will allow to experience Yogi Wade the same way we do, with a sense of trepidation and fear of the unknown. It also allows me to make posts when I can’t remember what the class was like :) Have fun.

We had a small class of the "hard cores" (as Wade called us), so he was psyched to beat us down with a fast paced Primary Series.  The Primary Series (there is a Secondary, focused on backbends) and 3rd focused on "funky stuff", like handstands) is mainly focused on forward bends.  You do a ton of vinyasas in btw the poses and even if you are feeling a bit lazy, I recommend doing them b/c they really help to reset the spine and counter act all the forward bending.  Anyhow, we rocked and rolled thru sun salutations A and B right off the bat, doing this at home you might want to start and childs pose or some slower salutations to warm up a bit.  After the fast paced, no nonsense sun salutations, you spend about 1/3 of the class standing, doing poses like triangle, twisted triangle, wide leg forward bend and variations. Then you move to the floor with seated poses like runners stretch, folded cobbler and seated forward bends and variations, and some ab work.  Vinyasas in btw really keep you busy on the floor, especially if you throw in the push ups and even a hand stand here and there.  Then the last bit of the class winds down, but with those killer lotus position lifts, you stay focused until the end.  Very few twisting poses in this class.  If you liked this class Wade recommends David Swenson Primary Series workout, you can Google to find it.

Jeez, now that I am posting these with a week delay, I sometimes forget what each class was… This class was.. ahh not too hard… I seem to remember standing on one leg for a long time.. not a whole lot of push ups.. pretty straightforward. OK, so this description is of no use whatsoever, but you should download this workout and do it anyway.

full moon, so to honor the astanga yoga tradition we avoid the push ups and fast paced sun salutations to avoid injury.  class starts and ends in resting cobbler pose and you’ll spent 3/4 of the class on the floor.  emphasis of this class would be on the lower back and hips.  without the fast paced, heat building sun salutations i was worried that i wouldn’t be warm enough to maximize the poses, but concentrating on deep breathing really helped build heat even with the slower pace.  a warm room would be a good start as well.  it’s a great class to end a long day.

This class was recorded by Wade while I was out of town, so I have no idea what kind of class it is. Perhaps the elusive 90 minute corpse?

Tuesday, Dec. 5th

This class starts out with some moderately slow paced sun salutations A and B, which means holding
plank and low push up long enough to scream or at least build some
heat.  class mainly focused on working the butt, with a lot of one
legged balance poses.  and a fair amount of squating poses. wade also
mentioned a new pose that i like a lot called "take-a-drink-asana"
and we did do some interesting twist in down dog that i don’t
remember doing before.  a few crow poses, a little ab work, and some
camel/reverse plank business to counter act the forward bending and
that’s about it…90 minutes of good stuff for you body.
